Happy 40th Birthday to the greatest goalie to ever play the great game. 40 years old today, playing in a massive playoff game and he gets the win and an assist. Great stuff. I wouldn't love hockey as much as I do now had it not been for being amazed watching this guy on tv 13 years ago. It's pretty special that his 20 year pro career has all been with the same team (I heard tonight that he is the only NHL goalie to play in playoffs both as a teenager and a 40 year old? Wow). I love this guy!

Tonight, Cameron got to be the Braehead Clan match mascot, which means he got to skate out with the Clan at the start of the game. He was so excited! All week he was waking up and telling me how many sleeps it was til his big day and he had a total blast!

I've had a bit of a delay in posting these. I've had a super busy few days with my friend Kim, who I worked with in Canada. Was so great to see her again! Anyhoo, onwards!


1. If you could live in any time in history, which would you choose and why?

It might sound odd, but I think I's quite like to have been in my early 20s during world war 2. It was of course a horrific time but any time I read about the era or hear people talking about their experiences there is such a sense of togetherness and community spirit that is missing at the moment. I know it wasn't all dancing with glamorous American soldiers etc but I'd like to experience that period. It interests me.

2. What is your least favourite household chore?

DOing the dishes. My hands get all wrinkly from the water and my skin goes dry from the washing up liquid and for some reason I am incapable of doing it without getting my whole front wet. Seriously.

3. How did you get into ice hockey?
One day when I was in high school, my friend Simon said "Would you like to go and watch a game of ice hockey?". My response was "what now?" It was an exciting game! The fire alarms went off int he middle of it meaning we all had to stand outside in the cold with all these big sweaty palyers, then the actual game went to over time and Paisley Pirates won on pentaly shots. Super exciting and I now love the game and still go with Simon :)

4. What do you want to be when you grow up *grin*?

So, a couple of weeks ago I had a super fun week, but only just got the photos from my friend's camera to post about it! First up was Barrowman's book singing for Hollow Earth.

So that was the Monday. On the Wednesday Braehead Clan had a topless waiter night for Valentines. They did it last year and it was quite a laugh drinking cocktails and watching the lads try not to act as uncomfortable as they were feeling! I know it's pretty degrading. These are professional athletes and all, but they all volunteered to do it and everyone just had a laugh so no harm no foul I say!

And finally, the night after that was theatre night! I went to see all new people with Zach Braff and Eve Myles.

Also last week two of my favourite shows started back in the US, Castle and How I Met Your Mother. From the first episodes it looks like they are going to have great seasons! I can see Rick getting himself in deeper than he can handle in Castle already

Sorry I've been a bit silent lately. I realise that I abandoned the 40 day photo challenge but things have been a bit rough and I've just not had the energy to update.

Anywho, I am breaking LJ silence to say Happy Birthday to the winningest goalie in NHL history, the man who holds records for career shut outs, wins, games played and the list goes on! Happy Birthday Marty! At 39 he's getting on a bit - I just wish I could get to see him play live before he stops!
